Built in 1875; Monroe Sheire, architect; Second Empire/Italianate in style. The structure is a two story, 3898 square foot, four bedroom, two bathroom, one half-bathroom, frame house. The house was built for Anthony Yoerg and Elovina Yoerg. It has a limestone foundation, cedar siding, and 15 foot high ceilings. The 1885, 1887, 1890, and 1892 city directories indicate that Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Yoerg and their daughter resided at this address. Elovina Yoerg was the governess for the Alexander Ramsey family.

Anthony Yoerg, Sr., (1816-1896) was born in Bavaria in 1816, arrived in St. Paul in 1848. After a failed attempt at running a butcher shop with his son, Anthony Yoerg, Jr., he began construction of Minnesota's first brewery that winter near where Washington Street and Eagle Street once met.

Anthony Yoerg died, leaving his family to operate the brewery as the Yoerg Brewing Co., which they did successfully even through Prohibition. The house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
