Albert Lea is a located in southern Minnesota near the Iowa border at the crossroads of interstates 35 & 90. It is named after Lt. Albert Miller Lea, the topographer that surveyed southern Minnesota & northern Iowa. Albert Lea was settled in 1855, incorporated as a village in 1859 & incorporated as a city in 1878.
