This building was originally the Minneapolis Auditorium Building, which was built in 1905. Showman S.L. "Roxy" Rothafel rebuilt and renamed the building in 1924 as the Lyceum. Originally a first run movie theater, the format switched to Roadshows in 1933. In 1938 the theater showed "Birth of a Baby" to full houses. In the 1940s the Lyceum began moved to live theater. The theater closed in the 1950s, and housed a church until the 1970s when it was demolished to make way for Orchestra Hall.
