Small Town Jewish Life
In both north and south populations the struggle for Jewish identity was similar. In the majority of towns there were not enough Jewish men to have daily services. There was no Rabbi, butcher or other positions needed to keep hold of a strong Jewish faith. There were few if any synagogues or Hebrew schools. Communities were dependent on what they could provide for themselves. With some exceptions, families would go to the Twin Cities for High Holy Days and other important occasions.
