The Hiawatha neighborhood is in south Minneapolis. It extends from the Mississippi River on the east to Hiawatha Ave. on the west. The north to south bounderies are from E. 40th St. to E 54th St. The neighborhood name derives from the famous epic poem about Hiawatha & Minnehaha, The Song of Hiawatha by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1855). Minnehaha Falls is located in the Hiawatha neighborhood.
