Date of site visit 3/3/1982 by Fieldworker: R. Younger
Significant details: "This large L-shaped building has three glass entrance doors with wood and metal trim. First floor windows also have wood and metal trims. Second floor windows have cement lintels and sloping cement stills. 2nd floor projects over 1st. This building has been sensitively built around the entrance to the original Hamline University Library. The foyer exposes the original rounded columns and fanlights of the library. Building has steeply pitched tile clad clerestories. Part of the building is open on the 1st floor with the second story supported by brick piers."
Significant site and landscape features: "This building is located along Snelling Avenue west of Old Main."
Historical background: "The original part of the building was built in 1907 as the Hamline University Library. It cost $30,000 to construct. Parts of the original structure were razed and the new addition was constructed in 1972 to convert the building to the Paul Giddens Alumni Learning Center."
