This large queen Anne Style wood frame house was built in 1895 for Eugene & Christina Villaume. Eugene Villamue was a prosperous West Side industrialist and businessman who transformed a tiny cabinetmaking business into a huge successful lumber and cabinet making firm, which was one of the West Side's leading industries for almost 70 years. In 1938 the Villaume house was purchased by an order of Catholic sisters and used as the St. Peter Claver Convent untill the early 1980's.
