The Catholic Church of Saint Peter is the oldest Catholic church in continuous use in Minnesota.

The church was built in 1853 to replace an earlier chapel built to serve Mendota's French Catholics. It was restored in 1978; a new church building was built in 2005. The old church building remains intact, though the steeple is not original.
