Memories and stories

My husband and I rented an apartment in this building in 2008. The owner of the building, had recently completed work renovating three of the four apartments. Original claw-foot tubs, kitchen sinks, and built-in buffet and cabinets remain in each unit. They're beautiful! She told us that the building had previously been home to adults with developmental disabilities, although I'm not sure when this was it's function. In 2008, three of the four units were rented again, and at some point they might try to convert them to condos for sale.

We were very happy living here; the street is surprisingly quiet for being one block off Snelling and two blocks north of University. It was great being so close to all the bus stops at that intersection; it made it much easier to get around since we shared a car. It was also nice being close to the CVS, because when I needed butter or milk at the last minute, it was just a quick jaunt down the street! Other favorite neighborhood destinations were Borealis Yarns at Hamline & Thomas, Ginkgo Coffeehouse, and the Hamline Midway Library. I hope the library is able to stay open! It is a great neighborhood resource.
